Hallo und herzlich Willkommen zu unserem vierten Blog-Post:)
Genau die Hälfte unserer Zeit hier in Äthiopien ist jetzt rum und sie verflog wie im Flug. In den letzten zwei Wochen haben wir mit verschiedenen Organisationen und Einrichtungen gearbeitet und viel erlebt. Vier Tage lang waren wir Teil eines Projekts namens Godanow, welches sich (zum Teil) um missbrauchte, obdachlose, junge Mütter kümmert. Dort können sie u.a. einen Unterschlupf finden, einen Beruf erlernen und sich um ihre Kids kümmern. Wir haben dort 2mal ein Programm abhalten können, mitgeholfen die Kleinen zu beaufsichtigen und (versucht) ihnen Englisch beizubringen, was nicht so einfach war. Unsere Männer waren für die praktische Arbeit verantwortlich, wie das Richten des Sportplatzes. Alles in allem war dieser Dienst gut, obwohl der Leiter des Ganzen unserem christlichen Programm eher skeptisch gegenüber stand.
An zwei Tagen waren wir im Mutter Theresa Haus. Das war eine super Erfahrung für uns, wenn es auch am ersten Tag etwas schwierig war, für einige von uns, sich um die schwerkranken und behinderten Kinder zu kümmern. Unsere Dramen, Lieder und Tänze haben die Kids aber sichtlich genossen und auch wenn sie es nicht ausdrücken konnten, waren sie doch sehr dankbar, dass wir da waren.
Den Großteil der letzten zwei Wochen haben wir in einer Einrichtung namens Hope Enterprise verbracht, die Obdachlosen, Straßenkindern und sehr Armen ein Mittagessen zur Verfügung stellt. Jeden Tag kommen da über 700 (meist) Männer hin. Es gibt auch noch eine zweite Anlaufstelle für Frauen und Kinder – dort kommen ca. 300Menschen hin. Ein Essen kostet 50 Birr cent, d.h. für umgerechnet ca. 40 Euro können über 1000 Menschen ein sättigendes Mittagessen bekommen. Wir haben mitgeholfen das Essen (Injera mit einer Art Mais-Linsen-Suppe) zu falten, auszugeben und die Teller wieder abzuwaschen.
Außerdem haben wir jeden Tag Dramen gespielt, diese dann erklärt, Zeugnisse gegeben und Lobpreislieder gesungen. Für viele Menschen durften wir beten und einige haben sich auch bekehrt. Alleine an einem Tag waren es über 10 Männer. Besonders gefreut haben wir uns, dass wir mit dem DTS – Team aus Perth zusammenarbeiten konnten. Mit ihnen verstehen wir uns suuuuper und haben uns schon mehrmals privat getroffen (zum Festessen, Pizza essen, Jungs- und Mädelsabend).
Außerdem dürfen wir jeden Samstag in der Gemeinde von Winta und Amanuel das Kinder- und Jugendprogramm gestalten. Alles in allem genießen wir es noch immer hier in Addis zu sein, auch wenn das Wetter in der letzten Woche eher bewölkt und regnerisch war (sehr untypisch für diese Zeit des Jahres). Wir sind Gott dankbar für seine Versorgung und seinen Schutz (z.B hat Rebekka letzte Woche einen ziemlich heftigen Stromschlag bekommen, aber es ging ihr schnell wieder gut).
Ihr könnt gerne weiterhin für unsere Bewahrung und unseren Schutz beten und dass alle gesund bleiben. Außerdem das Gott uns weiterhin gebraucht und durch uns viele Menschen erreicht. Danke, dass ihr an uns denkt und für uns betet! Ihr seid klasse:)

Hello and welcome to our fourth blog-post:)
Half of our time here in Ethiopia is over now and it passed by faster than we thought. In the last two weeks we worked with different organizations and institutions and we experienced a lot. For four days we have been working with a project called Godanow, which cares for abused, homeless, young mothers. There they can find a home, learn a profession and take care of their kids. We were able to do a program there twice, spend time with the little kids and try to teach them English, which was not so easy after all. Our guys were responsible for the practical work such as fixing the sports yard. And on our last day we taught life skills teaching on- making good decision. All in all it was a nice ministry even if the owner of this place was not amused by our Christian program.
For two days we could go to the Mother Theresa Home. That was a great experience for us, even though it was hard for some of us, to be with the very sick and disabled kids at the first day. The kids really enjoyed our dramas, songs and dances and even if they couldn’t express their feelings well, they were still very thankful for us simply being there.
The majority of our time we spent at an institution called Hope Enterprise, which is providing food (lunch) for homeless people, street kids and very poor people. Everyday there are coming over 700 (mostly) men to get food. There is also a second place for women and children – there are about 300 people coming other. One meal costs about 50 cent birr, that means for about 40euro you can feed over 1000 people. Crazy.
We helped handing out the food (Injera with some sort of corn-lentil-soup) and washing up the dirty dishes. Besides that we were able to play dramas, explain them and give testimonies, also to sing worship songs and pray for the people. Some of them even got saved, yet alone at the last day 10 men gave their life to Jesus. Really cool was, that we got to work the the DTS –Team from Perth. With them we get along veeeeery well and we even got to spend time with them, e.g. we had dinner together, ate pizza together and had a guys- and girls night).
Also we are allowed to go to Wintas and Amanuels church every Saturday to do the Kids- and Youth program. All in all we still like it to be here in Addis, even when the weather has been messed up the last couple of days – it was very cloudy and rainy (which is very unusual during that time of the year). We thank God for his provision and protection (Rebekka got a power shock(?), but she felt better very soon afterwards).
If you like, you guys can pray for our safety and protection and also for our health – so that nobody gets sick. Also that God can use us more and more and more people can be reached through us. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! You are wonderful:)

Hello and Sellamm!
Hallo und Sellamm...
Nun sind schon 3 Wochen vergangen, seit wir Hurlach verlassen haben. Auf grund des Internetproblems konnten wir nicht so häufig wie gewünscht schreiben, aber auch das hat sich jetzt zum Besseren gewendet! Uns geht es gut, wir haben uns jetzt alle (mehr oder weniger) hier eingelebt und genießen unser Leben als Afrikaner. Letzte Woche hat unser Dienst voll und ganz begonnen. Wir haben uns 6 tage lang auf das Abenteuer Gefängnis eingelassen und vieeeeel erlebt. Jeder von uns hat mal unterrichtet, gepredigt oder Dramen erklärt und am Ende waren wir alle an so einigen Erfahrungen reicher.
Eine super Bereicherung für unseren Dienst waren 2 deutsche Zahnärzte, die uns begleitet haben. Insgesamt wurden 200 Patienten behandelt, mindestens 300 Zähne gezogen, über 100 Gefangene haben für sich beten lassen und nicht wenige haben ihr Leben Jesus gegeben. Wow...
Besonders berührt haben uns die Schicksale der einzelnen Gefängnisinsassen, wie das eines 18Jährigen Jungen, der noch weiter 20jahre absitzen muss und die Geschichte einer jungen Frau, die an Malaria erkrankt ist und bald gehängt werden soll – umso wichtiger war es für uns, für die Menschen da zu sein und ihnen Jesus zu bringen! Wahrscheinlich werden wir nie die ganzen Auswirkungen unseres Gefängnis- Einsatzes erfahren, aber das stört uns nicht weiter:)
Ein Highlight war auch definitiv unsere äthiopische Weihnachtsfeier am 06. Januar im Hilton Hotel. Wir waren Teil des Programms und haben auf der gleichen Bühne wie der äthiopische Primeminister, eines unserer Dramen und einen Tanz aufführen dürfen. Einmal mal konnten wir erleben, wie sehr Gott uns beschenken möchte – mit gutem Essen, guten Gesprächen und spannenden Abenteuern (Anna wurde fast zur Polizeistation gebracht, weil sie während der Taxifahrt Fotos von der Strasse gemacht hat und die Polizei das gar nicht so toll fand)...
In den nächsten tagen werden wir wieder mehr mit verschiedenen Kinderprojekten und Heimen arbeiten. Auch am folgenden Wochenende werden wir außerhalb der Stadt mit den Kids sein und ein Programm für sie veranstalten (inkl. Life Skill Teaching über Hygiene).

Hi and Sellam!
It has been 3 weeks now that we have left Hurlach. Because of the slow Internet connection we couldn’t update you as often as we wanted to, but even this changed for the good now. We are doing fine and all of us adjusted (more or less) to our new lives as Africans. Last week our ministry finally started. We took the challenge and went to 6 different prisons in 5 days. It was an adventure and we learned a lot out of it! All of us preached, taught and explained our dramas and in the end we were richer in experiences.
A great supplement for our ministry were two German dentists, who came with us. All together they were able to treat 200 patients, pull out at least 300 teeth, over 100 prisoners let us pray for them and quite some gave their lives to Jesus. Wow…
Especially some of the prisoner’s life stories touched us, like the story of an 18year old boy, who has to be in the prison for 20 more years. Also the story of a lady with malaria, who is going to be hanged soon – the more important it was for us to be with those people and to bring them Jesus. We probably will never see all the results of our prison ministry, but that is okay for us:)
Another great highlight was definitely our Ethiopian Christmas celebration on the 6th of January in the Hilton hotel. We were part of the Christmas program there and we got to perform one of our dramas and a dance on the same stage like the prime minister of Ethiopia (to just name one). One more time we could experience how much God wants to spoil us – with good food, good conversations and exciting adventures (Anna almost got taken to the police office on the way, cause she took pictures of the street while driving in the cab. The police officer was not amused by that)
In the next couple of days we are going to work more with different Kids-projects and Children homes.
Also we will go to the countryside on the weekend to have a program with the kids there. We will also teach them about hygiene (life skill teaching). Yay…
