Ethiopia, Ethiopia

Hallo alle zusammen! Hier ist nach vieeeeelen, vielen gescheiterten Versuchen doch noch unser zweiter Post:) Es geht uns allen gut, auch wenn wir noch gar nicht so sehr in Weihnachtsstimmung sind! Aber das kommt sicher morgen... Aber erstmal der Reihe nach!
In unseren ersten Woche hier haben wir schon einiges erlebt, sind viel rumgekommen und haben sehr freundliche Menschen kennen gelernt! Wir waren vor einigen Tagen auf unseren ersten richtigen Outreach im Kinderheim und haben erleben duerfen, wie wundervoll es ist, fuer die Kids da zu sein und nur mit wenigen Mitteln und unseren begrenzten Sprachkenntnissen ein Laecheln auf ihr Gesicht zu bringen! Dort werden wir noch oefter hingehen!
Einige Schwierigkeiten haben wir mit der Internetverbindung hier, sodass wir nicht sooft wie gewuenscht hier reinschreiben koennen, aber vielleicht aendert sich auch das noch!
Unsere ersten paar Abenteuer bestanden darin 2 Tage ohne Wasser auskommen zu muessen und auch zeitweise ohne Strom - aber wir haben uns tapfer geschlagen:)
Wir sind von Tag zu Tag dankbarer hier sein zu duerfen und einen Unterschied in Aethiopien machen zu duerfen! Alles Gute euch fuer die bevorstehenden Feiertage und gaaaaaanz viel von Gottes so gutem Segen! Sonnige Weihnachtsgruesse aus unserer neuen Heimat Aethiopien!

Hello everybody! After a lot of failed tries, this is our 2nd post:) We are doing fine, even though we are not in christmas mood yet, but maybe that will change tomorrow. But one after another...
In our first week here we already exerienced a lot of cool things, we travelled a lot and we got to meet a lot of nice people! A couple of days ago we went to our first real outreach to a childrenshome and we could exerience how wonderful it is to bring a smile on those Kid's faces without much acting and without a perfect understanding of each other. We will be there more often in the future as well.
We had some difficulties in the past couple of days with the Internet, that is also why we can't update this blog as often as we would like to! But maybe this weill change soon.
Our first couple adventures insisted of the loss of electricity for some time and having no watre for almost 2 days! But we made it through boldly:)
We are happier to be here from day to day and we are seriuosly thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in this country. We hope you guys have wonderful holidays and and we wish you God's special blessings. Marry sunny christmasgreetings from our new home Ethiopia.

Endlich in Äthiopien - Finally in Etiopia

Dienstag der 16.12.2008 – eine Gruppe junger, schöner Menschen betritt den Flughafen in München. Noch ahnt niemand, was in den nächsten Stunden auf uns zukommen soll... Unser Flug hat 4 Stunden Verspätung – alles erscheint aussichtslos! Doch Rettung ist schon in Sicht. Für die angefallenen Unannehmlichkeiten bekommen wir 180€ vom Flughafenpersonal spendiert und können genüsslich thailändisch und Burger kingisch schlemmen, bevor es dann um 18Uhr endlich losgehen kann... Auf ganz wundersame Weise schaffen wir es sogar unseren Anschlussflug in Kairo zu erwischen. Nicht einmal die 15 Sicherheitskontrollen können uns jetzt noch was anhaben! Früh am Morgen sind wir da: Addis Abeba hat nur auf uns gewartet! Bis jetzt ist uns schleierhaft wie wir die Fahrt vom Flughafen zu unserem wundervollen Haus überlebt haben... Die äthiopische Fahrweise ist doch sehr rasant. Alles in allem geht es uns allen gut, wir genießen unsere ersten Tage hier und freuen uns auf die nächsten Abenteuer. Danke Jesus.

Tuesday the 16th of december 2008 – a group of young and beautiful people arrives at the airport in Munich. Nobody knows yet, what is laying ahead of them in the next couple of hours… Our flight is having a 4 hours delay - nothing seems right anymore. But salvation is near. For the upcoming circumstances we get 180€ from the airport crew and now we can have some delicious food at the Thai and Burger King restaurant, before we finally can take off at about 6pm. We are even able to catch our connecting flight in Cairo miraculously. Not even the 15 security checks can harm us now! Early in the morning we arrive: Addis Ababa has just been waiting for us! Until now we haven’t figured out, how we survived the trip with the cab from the airport to our wonderful house. The Ethiopian way of driving is very risky after all. All in all, all of us are fine, we enjoy the first couple of days here and we are excited for the next adventures to come! Thank you Jesus.
